Herbalife’s Global Product Innovation Team (GPI) is responsible for delivering Herbalife’s new product category pipeline of innovative and exciting food, beverage and dietary supplement technologies and consumer products. This is a senior technical position in a Global R&D team of diverse and talented individuals who are skilled in product formulation, sensory and manufacturing technologies.

GPI’s Commercialization Manager will be required to develop new concepts, prototypes and pilots with external Turnkey partners. This position requires that the individual stays current with the latest trends and technologies in in new ingredients and finished products for various product categories from preliminary formula to full-scale manufacturing.

GPI’s Commercialization Manager will partner with the Prototyping Manager to creatively and skillfully deliver new Go-to-Market prototypes at a rapid pace in 6-9 months by collaborating with Turnkey partners and internal Herbalife cross-functional experts from global and regional marketing, sourcing, quality and regulatory teams. GPI’s Prototyping and Commercialization Managers will join-hands and partner with the selected Turnkey partner’s R&D and manufacturing teams to drive fully-vetted new product categories from concept to commercialization in 12-18 months. This position requires 25-50% travel in any given month.

  • As per GPI Director’s new product pipeline and technology initiatives, GPI’s Commercialization Manager will leverage GPI Director’s technical guidance and deliver on project goals set by the Director for the Herbalife innovation product pipeline from concept to pilot and scalable manufacturing
  • Partners with Innovation Prototyping Manager and external Turnkey partners to deliver annually on 50-75 GPI projects which includes 40-60 prototype to pilot conversions, 15-20 new product launches and 20-24 product sampling showcases.
  • Responsible for the development of pilot and commercial batches for new product showcases at Herbalife employee and distributor events.
  • Maintains an external lens into scouting, scoping and identifying incremental or disruptive market opportunities
  • Responsible for conducting preliminary due diligence on Turnkey technology providers and manufacturers for Herbalife
  • Responsible for new product category development plans, turnkey partnerships, overseeing prototype scale-up and implementation with external/turnkey partners
  • Work in partnership with Quality, Sourcing, Product Science and Safety, Regulatory, Packaging, Marketing, and Project Management to lead projects from concept to commercialization
  • Deliver Go-to-Market ready prototypes for new product showcases at local and global marketing and distributor events
  • Support Project Management to ensure on-time delivery of new product launches




  • Proven ability to go from concept ideation to proof of concept commercialization with well-vetted external Turnkey partners
  • Adept at scouting and due diligence for new market opportunities using external Innovation models
  • Proven to apply technical, creative and culinary sensibilities in developing new product portfolio
  • Ability to work with geographically distributed cross-functional teams
  • Takes technical direction well and executes on a project with mindfulness, high-quality outputs and minimal oversight
  • Thoughtful and solution-oriented with ability to execute on new ideas with positive engagement across the organization and the external Turnkey partners
  • Ability to expertly engage with Quality, Sourcing, Regulatory, Packaging and Marketing
  • Excellent organizational skills, be hands on, detail oriented and good at problem solving
  • Enthusiastic, results-oriented,  self-starter and an independent thinker and yet still be a great team player
  • Relationship-builder, artfully articulate, and captivating communicator from elevator chats to boardroom meetings.
  • Adaptable and ambitious. You will enthusiastically take on other assignments as needed to support and make successful your and other teams while championing for the provider of the new product or technology.
  • Strong collaboration skills, good business acumen and effective communicator
  • Self-driven, able to remove uncertainty rapidly (“fail fast fail cheap”) and deliver high-quality results speedily


  • 7 years of industry experience in product design, prototyping and/or manufacturing experience in R&D, pilot plant  and manufacturing in a food, beverage, culinary or dietary supplement company
  • Delivering compelling demonstrations to pitch new products to marketers and distributors
  • Demonstrated familiarity in various types of turnkey and contract manufacturing models
  • Partnering with global and regional Marketing to cultivate, develop, and deliver innovative products to meet the shared category strategic vision and innovation pipeline. 


  • BS with 7 years, or MS with 3 years of industry experience in product design, prototyping and/or manufacturing experience in R&D, pilot plant  and manufacturing in a food, beverage, culinary or dietary supplement company
