POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:
 
The Facilities Project Engineer will be responsible for coordinating and managing all project aspects from initiation to completion at the Winston-Salem facility that deliver manufacturing, infrastructure, utility improvements to the site, and other necessary large scale site repairs or enhancements. This position will interface with the Maintenance and Engineering teams as well as other site managers, and senior leadership. This position must update and maintain all as-built drawings (electrical, mechanical, P&ID) as part of the project completion process. This position is also responsible for insuring pre-communication with impacted customers, followed by coordination with all functional groups (Facilities, IS, HR, Manufacturing, Planning, Procurement, Finance, R&D and Quality) as relates to projects or other activities that may affect the various internal operations if the facility.
 
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: 
 
  • Analyze current facility issues and opportunities and provide sound solutions. Have data to support recommendations. Develop project SOW (Statement of Work), and obtain quotations for qualified contractors, and vendors to meet quality and project expectations. Seek project cost approvals through Manager and other site leadership. Work through local regulatory agencies when required.
  • Develop and/or review plans, to achieve project and cost objectives, aligned with facility strategies. Ensure utility requirements can be met and fall within site goals and limitations.
  • Coordinate plans and actions with facility and operations functional leads in the various areas. Duties will include coordination of the project, repair or construction activity, and participation overseeing the project to insure it is performed per required company or site standards. Include plans for project close out including asset numbering, CMMS record, demonstration of controlled costs to align with budgeted levels and full customer satisfaction, and any routine inspections or PM’s required.
  • Provide recommendations, training, guidance, to leadership and employees to ensure project capabilities promised are delivered .  .
  • Update CAD drawings to include the latest “As-Built” project features. Ensure our electronic site set in the WW Engineering SharePoint area the most up-to-date drawings.
  • Responsible for creating a positive and participative atmosphere for improving safety and quality standards in the facilities.
  • Fiscal responsibility for establishing and managing project operating costs to meet or exceed budget guidelines.
  • Participate in site continuous process, cost reduction, improvement programs.
  • Provide training support / programs to technicians (as necessary) to assure enhancement of their competencies, and to achieve function and quality goals.
  • Support Herbalife Nutrition maintenance and operations insuring quality and consistent products for the supported Herbalife markets.
  • Remain current on all EH&S requirements and manage these activities for the facility.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Skills:
 
  • AutoCAD proficiency and use in a commercial or industrial setting.
  • Project Management experience, preferably as a lead.
  • Proven experience in working with local authorities to accept project requests.
  • Understanding of production processes and FDA/regulatory requirements related to the manufacturing of food and nutritional supplements
  • Locate & identify problem sources to the facility. Provide sustainable solutions. Make improvements  to enhance reliability and operating costs of the facility.
  • Accept new project requests and schedule acceptable delivery. Make routine updates on progress.
  • Ability to organize workload for effective implementation under minimal supervision and adapt as the external environment evolves
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills
  • Strong customer and results orientation
  • Team player able to interact effectively at all levels with sensitivity to cultural diversity
 
Experience:
 
  • 3 years of demonstrated CAD use
  • 3 years of Project Management experience, with direct control of a project portfolio of $10,000-$100,000 in scope.
  • 1 year of  experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven project track record for improvements that met or exceeded forecast numbers.
 
Education:
 
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a related discipline
  • Training in cGMP’s and FDA regulations requirements for a manufacturing plant
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • Exceptional organizational development, project development, training and presentation skills
  • Strong team building & listening skills
  • 3 years of manufacturing experience
  • 3 – 5 years of Project Management experience within a manufacturing or an industrial environment
  • 3 – 5 years of CAD drawing& file experience with commercial or industrial focused work
  • 1-4 years supervisory experience over direct reports.
  • GMP/FDA regulated food or pharma production experience
