The Specialist, Advertising & Marketing will serve as the liaison between Legal and those departments responsible for developing and producing marketing, advertising and training programs. This person will manage the legal review of marketing and advertising materials, with a strong emphasis on promotions materials. Responsible for attending the planning and early stage meetings regarding customer and marketing initiatives to ensure all actions taken align with approved legal policy and procedures. Will plan for proper monitoring to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for strategy and process optimizations. 



  • Develop and manage internal policies and procedures to ensure all marketing materials are in compliance with applicable law
  • Create and maintain documentation of approved marketing materials and substantiation
  • Perform routine brand and product claim reviews to identify internal vulnerabilities
  • Work with marketing and sales functions to improve compliance practices
  • If needed, be able to work corporate events ensuring that speakers are properly briefed (and their presentations thoroughly reviewed) to ensure compliance with ad practices. Domestic travel may be required for these events.  
  • Willing to offer additional support on team projects




  • In-depth knowledge of legal terminology and principles relating to unfair and deceptive advertising
  • Understanding of promotions law
  • Strong technical writing and oral communication skills, superior spelling, punctuation, and grammar
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels with sensitivity to cultural diversity
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to handle strict deadlines under pressure
  • Ability to conduct basic internal and external research for the reviewing of marketing materials
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing procedures, systems and priorities
  • Team player and strong interpersonal skills; able to effectively communicate with all levels, up through executive management
  • Strong software skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook


  • 5 years of paralegal (or similar) experience in a corporate environment
  • Experience reviewing advertising and marketing materials


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent practical experience



  • Paralegal certification
  • Experience with multilevel marketing industry or food and dietary supplement industry not required, but desirable
  • Familiarity with Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act
  • Familiarity with FDA rules and regulations a plus
  • 2 years of marketing compliance / promotion experience
  • Familiarity with brand and product claim compliance
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
