The Supervisor, Cost Accounting will provide support to the Director in the accounting/reporting area, directly responsible for product costing and analysis, inventory reporting and analysis, account reconciliations for inventory accounts, analyzing manufacturing variances and determining root cause.  Oversees the plant’s inventory cycle count process, assuring that inventory variances are reported on a timely basis. The position performs SOX and operational compliance testing and reporting.
  • Oversee staff’s daily needs to ensure all areas of responsibilities are covered.
  • Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares daily report comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
  • Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products and services.
  • Develop and prepare key metrics to assist measuring and optimizing the manufacturing and operations processes.
  • Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs.
  • Prepare manufacturing performance reports and analysis e.g. PPV, material usage, utilization, efficiencies, costs per unit.
  • Plans study and collects data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor.
  • Oversee plant’s inventory cycle count program and process.
  • Maintain inventory reserve analysis.
  • Prepare product quotes.
  • Assist in process and system upgrades and enhancements.
  • Interacts with other departments, such as Corporate Accounting, IT, Purchasing and Quality.
  • Prepares special reports and assists in special projects as assigned by Management.
  • Assist in training of newly hired accounting representatives.
  • Demonstrates initiative in all aspects of Plant Accounting.
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines and meet department goals.
  • Communicates effectively and clearly in verbal and written form.
  • Proficient with PC skills including Windows, Excel and Word
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management
  • Ability to organize workload and multitask to meet deadlines
  • Carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels with sensitivity to cultural diversity
  • Ability to adapt as the external environment and organization evolves. 
  • 5 years manufacturing experience
  • 3 years prior cost accounting experience 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or related field
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Experience in Oracle
  • MBA Degree or CPA
