POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:
 
The MQA Supervisor is responsible for supervision and coordination of all daily QA inspection activities related to batch production. They are responsible for leading, coaching and developing MQA staff and assisting them with documenting and responding to any quality-related issues that occur on the production floor.
 
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: 

 

  • Is the subject-matter-expert on all policies and procedures that govern MQA activities
  • Train and supervise staff to ensure procedures are being followed as written
  • Coordinate resources to ensure adequate staffing and support of plant operations; set daily priorities and work assignments
  • Work alongside staff to identify and test improvements to existing procedures; present viable improvements to management; drive continuous improvement of MQA procedures
  • Serve as a single point of contact for the team; receive and respond to all ad-hoc work requests
  • Develop and maintain a list of all work tasks and subtasks; establish standards for all tasks
  • Ensure staff are appropriately trained on policies and procedures; develop training resources; cross-train as necessary
  • Conduct performance evaluations and create development plans; coach, lead and work with staff to promote optimal performance
  • Create and maintain an effective onboarding program for new staff
  • Review and revise job descriptions annually
  • Build positive working relationships with other supervisors and assigned business partners; work inter-departmentally to coordinate action, resolve issues and implement change
  • Manage conflict that arises within the team; address performance issues professionally and promptly
  • Respond to events that don't have a standard process; provide direction, make decisions and escalate issues to management as appropriate
  • Respond to nonconformances and deviations and ensure these events are properly handled and documented
  • Periodically audit staff's work to verify it is being done completely and in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Implement management objectives; monitor and maintain successful KPI performance
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 
 
Skills:
  • Attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written English
  • Computer literacy, with solid PC and software experience
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs
  • Strong ability to work independently and as a team member under the pressure of manufacturing
 
Experience:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in FDA or GMP regulated industry
 
 
Education:
 
  • High-school diploma (or equivalent)
 
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • 2 or 4 year college degree
  • 2 years of experience supervising or leading staff
  • ASQ Certification as Certified Quality Inspector (CQI)
  • 5 years of experience with food, supplement or pharmaceutical manufacturing, particularly roles involved with quality inspection or quality assurance
  • Knowledge and understanding of GMP quality systems
